FIRECAN explores historical forest fire perimeters across Canada. Select filters, then choose Filter Map. Click a fire for its year, area, and data source.
Upload a longitude/latitude GeoJSON boundary to include fires that overlap or touch it. Multiple polygon features act as one search area. Other active filters narrow the selection further; watershed filtering includes fully contained fires.
Exports use the current filter settings and retain complete fire boundaries. Lower display tolerance shows more detail; increase it or narrow your filters if map results exceed the 100 MB display limit.
Historical records vary in coverage and completeness. Consult the source datasets for their details.
